Residential electricity consumption (REC) makes up for about one-fourth of India’s total electricity consumption.
Various studies have projected a five to six times increase in REC in India by 2030. Almost all studies predict that it (REC) will be in the range of 400 to 500 TWh (tera watt hour) by 2020, almost twofold of what Indian homes were consuming in 2014. By adopting efficiency measures, REC can be brought down by 20 to 25%.
